TIP FOR TEACHING A SHOULDER PASS

As Australian Coaches we are wanting to coach our players to do a one handed shoulder pass. I find that most young players hold the ball at their chest while looking for who to pass to. So then when they want to do a shoulder pass they have to move the ball to their shoulder first, this takes extra time and isn’t fluent.
So now I teach them to hold the ball at their shoulder ready to do the shoulder pass while they are looking around. I find this helps them develop a quick, fluent & strong pass.
So my key coaching point is “Put the ball on your shoulder” as soon as they catch it.
Let me know how you go.
